Lunchtime shopping

Today I don't feel too cleaver, matter of fact I kind of feel like shit, it's the making of yet another brand new cold but thanks to my weak immune system it will no doubt develop into a killer cold...who knows I may be proved wrong? I sure hope so.
Every minor little mundane task today, like shopping was a 100 percent more challenging and energy consuming compared to normal, heck I couldn't even be asked to browse the biscuit aisle(...this is very much unlike me)nor flick through those weekly fashion magazines, which all have identical contents and front covers (Jennifer Aiston let somebody else be splashed across the front, go on move, budge over, jeez what's with that woman?)pages of 'celebrity style' rubbish and 'hit or miss' despite my hatred for these trash mags I still feel compelled to take a glance. Fickle? Very.

OK I promise not to go on too much about my day trip to the supermarket, only today it seemed everyone was out to destroy me with their 4x4 size trolleys, I was a victim of hit and run at least ten times in the thirty minutes I was blessed(?) to be there...all I wanted was a yogurt and a frigging packet of garlic crackers now move out of my way Sainsburys slut,(erm I didn't actually express the latter)I believe I may of been experiencing a common (I hope it's common anyway? Otherwise I need my head checked)case of supermarket rage?
Due to this fresh cold, my eyes were sore and irritated from the neon yellow lights flooding the store, combined with constant "clean up on aisle two, please Stacey. That's a clean up on..."alright already Stacey gets it!Combined with idiotic, idiots ramming trolleys up my arse. I'm not going to lie, I wanted to sneeze all over them, Ha take that, my organic germ straight to the check out.

Eventually I departed from the supermarket feeling rather abused and wounded(the garlic crackers were well worth the violent aisle battle).I stumbled (my head was blurry from all the chaos)across the road to the chemist to grab some Lemsips and throat sweets, next door is a charity/thrift shop ...you know how the story unfolds from here on, don't you?
Just a 'ickle pick-me-up, I only had £5 in my purse so I figured, 'to hell with it live life on the edge, if you smoked you'd spend that on cigarette's' who am I to disagree with myself?
I snagged some epic items, including this Next pixle floral top which I wanted ages ago only I couldn't afford it at the time, I sniffed all the items whilst rummaging through the rails...it's never really occurred to me (until now)how insane I must appear? When checking for any nasty second hand odours. The two most vile smells being wet dog and smoke-disgusting, disgusting.
Luckily all my thrift buys are fragrant and wet dog/fag free.
By the by sorry's for the rather shabby photo presentation: I couldn't tolerate the likes of photoshop today, making the photos look all bright and pretty...I'm still recovering from my supermarket rage.So yeah, check out my bedroom carpet background, I did make the effort to shove any crap to one side.

Miss curiouser & curiouser

Hang on I need to catch my breath, nope I haven't been jogging (as I don't do that sort of exercise activity anyways) I clicked onto Miss Selfridge oblivious to their Alice in Wonderland range, eekk ! Why didn't anyone tell me? I only happened to discover this curious (see what I've created there? OK so it was obvious of me, and you saw it coming already?)and quirky homage to the coolest most quirky girl ever (Alice),because I was on the hunt for a)a new shoulder bag and b)a nice new warm hat...I swear the temperature is drastically dipping.
Where was I? Oh yes Miss Selfridge has fulfilled all my dreams,by creating a quirky and whimsical (as expected, it being Alice in Wonderland 'duh)Alice in Wonderland range,Oohh I'm taking a wild guess here, but I assume this may of been inspired by the new Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland film?My only question is what's took them so long?
I've always wanted someone out there to dedicate a collection to Alice in Wonderland...

Anyone who knows me, knows my obsession with this film, and knows I do have my days where I rip off Alice's style and claim it as my own, though I fool no one.
Alice in Wonderland was the first Disney film I saw, I pestered my mum for months to 'sew me a dress like Alice' and yes I'm still requesting this, though perhaps I should just construct it myself? I can thread a needle now, those years in fashion school weren't totally wasted on me.
Since Alice in Wonderland was introduced to four year old me,I became hooked, collecting all various versions of Alice in Wonderland that was available in both book and VHS video form. This was the beginning. It soon spiralled out of control,I began embarking on regular trips down to the Disney shop, snooping around the shelves for Alice bag's,hair clips, pencil cases and a lunchbox; that I could pack my lemon curd sandwiches into and show off (the Alice lunch box, not the sandwiches, just thought I'd clear that up) to my friends...who I failed to impress. They digged Snow White.

I no longer purchase Alice in Wonderland items from the Disney shop (I did keep hold of my lunch box though, I keep my photographs inside it).But admittedly I do continue to collect various Alice in Wonderland-esque bits and pieces such as accessories, dresses etc which crop up now and then on Etsy, ebay and junkshops. This sort of oddball behaviour has gained me the nickname 'miss curiouser', which my friends often refer me to due to my love for Alice and my habit of being curious and forever pondering over the most minor mundane things.
Needless to say I'm definitely purchasing one of these items from Miss Selfridge, most likely the heart print dress and a tee. I'm going to be highly original (*cough*) and wear the dress when I go and watch the new Alice in Wonderland movie...lame yet quite genius I reckons?
Do tell me your thoughts on this epic Alice in Wonderland range, were you already aware of it? Has Miss Selfridge done it justice? Are there any of your favourite characters that have been missed out? Finally did any of you have to hold in your bladder when you spotted this fabtastic range!?
Just me? How very embarrassing.

Such a sweet,super nice surprise

I still can't get my head around the fact that people take the time to read my 'ickle blog, all the things you could do to pass the time and you dedicate it to reading my random musings...wow I really do find that incredible.
I created this shy blog as a creative outlet for my collage of thoughts, opinions and rants on fashion that often dance and bounce around inside my busy brain:it was nothing but a method to de-clutter those thoughts, and to spare my dear friends from having to tolerate me going on and on (like a broken record) about fashion topics.
This blog also helped me cope with being booted out (well not exactly booted out, I did graduate) of fashion college/university without a job.
I'm rambling, sorry feel free to scroll this post.

The very last thing I ever expected from this blog is to attract any readers, yet alone hardcore very loyal readers and as for awards, well that's more then I could of ever even imagined EVER.
So big, big thank you dear Sophie for this super award for most inspirational blog, what more could a blogger gal ask for? This is such a awesome compliment!

...I'd really lurrrrve to pass this compliment to other fellow fashion blogal's, I've thought long and hard about who to give this award to, then I realised there's nothing much to think about...this list of girls, have the most inspirational and enjoyable blogs on the blog block. So check it yal, (um I've been listening to N.E.R.D, hence the lame rap reference)collect this award and show your blog bling off girls!

Just marching

"I've always been the opposite of mainstream.I march to my own beat,it's the only way I know."
Juliette Lewis

Hey all how's your weekend going? Me? Well I'm simply busy doing nothing much, which is refreshing as usually I spend my weekends working and whilst doing so I daydream about one day having my own 'ickle arty/fashion line and donating pennies towards forest projects, as deep down I'm a eager Eco warrior.
*Ouch I just hit the ground.Enough of my dreaming, crash back to reality.
This weekend just like Juliette I too have been very much marching to my own beat.Yesterday I had a delicious rum and raisin chocolate pot for lunch at this old quirky pub, avoiding banging my head on low wooden beams, afterwards I browsed lot's of junk shops, and yes thrift shops too. Where I picked up a beautiful embellished folk style skirt for £2.50, come on how could I leave that behind and allow it to gather dust? I couldn't.

Besides consuming large chocolate pots and causing carnage (have you heard of the bull in a china shop? Erm that clumsy bull is indeed moi here) in the antique/junk shops,I've been scribbling away in front of the TV (I know right such a no go...the box zaps creativity from you such a bad, bad distraction).Catching up on strangely addictive 90210 episodes ( very guilty pleasure: for I have sinned and am going straight to hell)screaming, 'Noooooooo don't do it, don't sex it up with Jasper he's telling you big fat fibs...he is a drug dealer!' followed by spilling fruit tea all over my scrap book:multi-tasking sure can get messy.Eventually after all the 90210/Jasper/fruit tea drama I completed my 'Sexy Paris' illustration, and celebrated by baking yet another cake, (what can I say? I love cracking eggs open and washing up the cake bowl with my tongue) here's my weekend in the form of pictures...not including the cake as sadly it's already been demolished.

Ouch Viv

Shocker, climate crusader and for many a fashion role model, Vivienne Westwood declares:"Stop all this consumerism I just tell people, stop buying clothes."
Hmm slight contradiction perhaps?
Vivienne may be bemused with the fashion industry? After years of being apart of it,becoming a great success and profiting rather well from her numerous collections.
However this is a damaging comment, which could potentially spoil things for up and coming, budding fashion designers, who mostly admire Vivienne's creations and take great inspiration from her: regarding Dame Vivienne as a fashion genius.
Consumerism makes this fickle world go round, people will always have a predilection for shopping,it's inevitable.
So why can't Viv simply retreat to her grand home and enjoy all that cash shes made from clothes? Instead of trying to ruin the futures for others?

Need Want Wishing

Once in a while something ( or something's) grab my full attention, and I begin my month long yearning (sometimes longer), and well, I thought I'd reveal which items I'm currently craving because I can, plus it's probably the nearest I'll get to obtaining these things.

First up is the book by Patti Smith "Just Kids", man I love this woman shes one of my idols (I have many idols all completely different...this is a whole other post)shes had such a impact on many modern artists, imagine what music/fashion/style would be like if she were never born? Pretty bland I reckon?

Next up is Roberto Cavalli's exquisite creation, the Shantung-silk dress. The touches of gold detail makes this dress shine, and gets my fashion pulse beating hard...this dress even featured in my dream recently, it was one bizzzzzzzarre dream too.Pencils with wings, the depressed teenage dude from Little Miss Sunshine needed a home, so I begin constructing one for him out of several Roberto Cavalli frocks. No I didn't get it either? My surreal dream sure isn't in my 'Dreams and what they mean' book.I shall remain forever baffled.

Alexander Wang pieces don't normally have me swooning, however the Dennis the Menace
jumper with peek-a-boo moth holes is an exception.

Accessorize, Accessorize I adore everything in this treasure chest of a shop, have you seen the neon Aztec style shoulder bag? One word-whoa...um is this even a word?

Last but not least, Rise graffiti skirt in the sale and soon to be in my wardrobe (once it's been further reduced to five quid...this being pretty much my bank balance right now, ha!).

Leg it

As I have a fear of jeans (I'm petite and it's impossible to find a pair that don't roll, gather around the knees, sag and drag along the pavement.Leaving a trail of fray denim bits behind me)be it flare, bootleg or the skinny jean,I'm not interested one of my biggest nightmares involves being forced against my will into a Levis store. Jeans forever remind me of my cringe worthy wannabe skate chic days, eager to impress the cute scruffy skater boys, I'd walk around the skate park holding my skateboard (as I never mastered the art of actually skateboarding,it instead became this accessory) with rap metal blasting from my Walkman 'Keep rolling, rolling, rolling' said Limpbizkit... boy how I wish I'd rolled out of my skate phase quicker then I did.
Erm swiftly moving on, and departing from the above embarrassing confession, I only have one pair of jeans which I only ever wear when I have no other item to cover my posterior.

This may explain why I'm forever stocking up on leggings, knee high socks and tights,I can't walk past claires accessories (not just for pre-teens I'll have you know)without taking a looksee to see what tights they have in stock, nor can I click past Bebaroque without snooping their sales.
Now and then I treat myself to a pair of gorgeous Bebaroque tights,I call them my posh fancy tights, and yes I wear them even when I'm just indoors cleaning my room. They make you and your pins feel ultra glam, with their stunning intricate details of elegant embellished prints, swarovski crystal's,velvet ribbon bows, tassels, swirling cord and pearls.
These sort of stylish tights you want to avoid laddering,I go to extreme measures of protecting my 'posh' tights by wrapping them in tissue paper and placing them in a shoe box...I wasn't kidding when I said extreme measures. These aren't no cheap and cheerful Primark opaques, which I simply roll up and shove in my draw, no my Bebaroque Priscilla leggings and tights are super special.
