Lashings Of Fashion Lurrrrve'in

Um...I wonder how many fellow fashion blogger's are dedicating their posts to some Valentine romance, I bet the blogsphere is over whelmed with lurrrrve and indeed has butterflies. Now I'm single (I have career ambitions to fulfill first. Selfish? nah!) and there for have no time or any need to spoil a guy and dedicate my sloppy affections towards him in the form of cards or gifts etc, etc. But heck, fashion on the other hand deserves all my attention, after all its always there for me in all its, elegant, crazy, romantic, distressed, acid bright, floral, knitted, colour block, ruffles, fringing, embellishment, structured, futuristic, urban, Gothic, printed, sporty, vintage, punk,Victorian, inovative glory! Fashion never, ever fails to cheer me up, whether it be a clutch bag, necklace, ballet flat's or an neon sequin frock: there is no need to fear any awkward 'first date' conversation. As me and fashion always seem to have a connection and very much 'bounce' off one another: So here is my little Valentine gesture to you: fashion I adore you no matter what, here I demonstrate why my love affair with fashion design shall continue beyond eternity.

Giles, Giles how I admire the obvious tribute to eighties Pac-Man, MMMWA X

Pollini, where do I start for my reasons to as why I'm besotted with you? It could just be the silhouettes all so ultra modern, sharp graphics and flirty, lovely light silks? Me suspects so! MMMWA X

Koi Suwannagate you turn heads with your artistic and day dream like, delicious sweet silk, pastel feather prints stamped across flowing free dresses with such care and pretty perfection to hand crafted detail...only such a spring/ summer collection can inspire me to practice a spot of gardening, and for this reason alone I give you a big, heart felt: MMMMWA X

Andrew Gn Atelier only two descriptive words necessary:effortless and classic, no other fashion designer can rock the 'old embellishment and bash the beads (so to speak) the way you do! MMMMWA X

Anna Sui, your pure good rock & roll, false dot...you invented fashion fun. The bright and bold red tie dyed, body hugging wrap style dress is: fierce. Will any of your future collections ever fail to set the catwalk on fire!? MMMMWA X

PPQ, despite your recent design collaboration with an ex-rock/pop star off spring, you know deep down I'm desperate to have a PPQ puff ball number, hanging up in my wardrobe. Besides you did borrow one of my favourite models, miss Daisy (who actually has some shape and curves:refreshing) for your fashion parade, so I give you a tick and a.... MMMMWA X

Oh Versace you and me go way back, to the age of about 9 years old (perhaps even younger?) I believe, when you came to my attention in what I remember to be my big sister's thick, glossy fashion magazine. For the first time I recall being absolutely amazed by the volume and colour pallet which runs through your garments...Attempting in vain to re-create such art with my daft fashion wheel and fuzzy felt set (*oh the embarrassment). It is YOU 'V' I blame for my fixation and tough trial and error's I experience (daily) getting my studded booted foot, through the tight locked fashion doors...How can I not HeArt you? For such inspiration...MMMMMMMWA XX

My lashings of fashion loving is not yet completed, as of course I must also pay tribute to the off beat and damn, out right quirky accessory and fashion fragrance that now and then crops up and is simply too fantastic to just ignore. Hence the most recent Gwen fragrance...come on I mean just look at the bottle? How could I not, huh? The definition of 'Adorable' isn't it? MMMMWA X

As for you Monsoon you've took me by complete surprise with this glittering, red heart shaped gem of a clutch gold chain bag:Expensive, movie star sophistication at a purse friendly price. You guessed it...MMMMWA X

Picnic Perfect Florals

Excuse me for the rather short but sweet post today 'gal's and guys, its due to an overwhelming response to some art I've been painting up some people I know (beyond the blogsphere) want me to produce some prints and place them on bags...I've got a really tight dead line and at the moment am completing the colour way/ mood board, must admit I'm a little nervous about the whole process. I'm awaiting for a new digital camera, so I can post up some good quality none grain photos, I shall (eventually) get around to revealing my art and prints. I totally keep forgetting to regularly keep you updated on my scrap book with scribbles of stylish folk, who catch my eye for whichever reason. Promise, promise I will soon as I receive my camera I will get-a-snapping*promise!

I don't know whether anyone else has come across the super, feminine and slightly granny chic Alexandre Herchovitch s/s '09 collection, the simplicity is beautiful, soft and exactly what I'd opt to wear for an hot summer picnic, sat in a field of daisy's and busy bumble bee's...is this just me? The Herchovitch collection is blooming with a mixture of both intricate, small and large contrasting lively but not too confidently loud, floaty floral prints. Just pop a flower in your hair, grab some shades and your good to go to that picnic.

PS...Back to my long and descriptive posts tomorrow, and of course it shall be Valentine inspired:building up the Valentines suspense, ha ha! x ;)

OrLA LA...

It seems I may have an addiction to and for creating ridiculous and naff titles on a daily blogging basis, the really bad news I'm afraid it may be here to stay for a little while yet:as it amuses me no end...moving on (I'm really trying with all my might not to stray off, I've such a bad habit of this, however it seems the fashion publication I merely and lightly ripped into are extremely offended with yesterdays post: hey I never forced them to scan through my blog now, did I!? Turns out they cannot contribute towards cost expenses because of their tight budget. Due to the current recession or 'credit crunch'. One word, lame. Oh, was this the case for the same cheap skate behavior I experienced two, three years ago? Way before any signs of a global Pennie melt down...also out of curiosity: exactly how much does it cost for you to pay the erm...ex-rock/pop star's daughter's cab? Need a calculator?). OK, OK I really am cracking on with today's pretty post...

Now when I set my eyes on this Orla Savage collection I indeed had a fit. A fit over different aspects of the collection such as a) the colour way, genius. b) the textures and c) the inspiration hidden behind this very exciting collection: tribal costume and a definite 1950's silhouette going on too! *High pitched girly screech, shattering the screen of my PC.

This by far has to be one of the most mind blowing womenswear collection I've witnessed in a while, juxtaposing and well and truly mix mashing up a colourful array of knitted textures and prints, pushing many fashion, design boundaries I just want and need to wear all of the above, its a must in my books! The pencil skirt with lashings of extreme textures, busting and swinging out of it, stunning:plus just (if you would?) imagine dancing around to some loud rock&roll music, wearing this number...I'm-a-dreaming...right I've returned from my imaginative day dream. If I can't obtain the tribal-esque pencil skirt, I'm at least aiming to have them fabulous tassel socks, on my feet (*note to self: attempt making up some of my own DIY tassel socks, sometime soon).

Now this coat is so very practical, it looks very nice and snug for the present chilly, and freakish weather conditions (first England gets a down poor of snow, now were battling fierce floods:its similar to the film 'day after tomorrow' I swear) and its in various shades of bubble gum pink, yum, I'm getting my Orla tribal on!

No Pretty Pictures

As always apologies for the ever so awful, awful title it is by far one of the worst I've conjured up, to this date however the title shall all make perfect sense. Now I'm aware I may have made a promise never to rant on ever again, today I'm afraid I have to break such a promise, as once again an unnamed fashion publication continues to attempt at exploiting the not-so unsuspecting 'fashion graduate' (jeez I feel as f I've had that title for decades). Let me explain (feel free to scroll down or indeed click on over to the next blog, I won't be offended. Go for it)...I've been through this massive internship (oh sorry slave labor) process, all was going swimmingly: challenging but enjoyable (lurrve a mission!) I receive some feed back and what should have been brilliant over the moon news, though it didn't go according to plan...

'Three months wow fantastic, when is the start date? I assume your be contributing towards the expenses in regards to the long and expensive commute, because obviously I'm a graduate and there is simply no way on earth I can afford the travel costs on my present minimum wage. So when do you want me to begin!?'
A blatant tone of disappointment travels along the phone line from the other end to in form me, ' Oh I'm awfully sorry, I'm afraid we don't pay for any travel expenses, will this be an issue for you?'. Duh (immature phrase I know) Doesn't take a genus to work out that this of course will indeed create a problem!! I take this opportunity to express my honest opinions, 'Shocking comes to mind, its completely disgusting and outrageous how you fashion publications operate all the money you must generate yet your not prepared to cover travel expenses!? There must be hundreds of other keen fashion graduates like myself who have no other choice but to miss out on such valuable work experience: As we just cannot afford to not only work for nothing but also pay for our own travel, which adds up to absolutely hundred's by the end of the week. Its money we are unable to source, and its expenses a minimum wage can also not cover.'
'Well I understand your frustration, however it isn't within in our structure. Best of luck for the future, good bye.' Best of luck for the future? Fuck off:what future is that then? A future trapped within the depressing confides of a call centre or better yet my local super market, mind stimulating 'tis not...While I'm on a roll may I just add, some famous teenager (fame status due to her handy family genes: yep, some has been rock/ pop star dad. Surprise). Did NOT go through the same application process as moi, in fact, she never even wrote a 'mock feature'...need I say more? No thought as much. *Rant over for now, until another fashion internship plays the exploit card. By the way I'm keeping note of all my experiences as I'm planning to really take further action via writing a letter to the powers that be, this really must be highlighted. I hate the thought of this happening to others: since when was discrimination and exploitation so very acceptable?

A Bit Of Childish Foolish Fun

Lippy: Ladyluck.

Sometimes life can get extremely serious and intense to the point where its also easy to go and forget what the true essence of this fickle life is (gosh, I'm sounding deep here!). When and if you find yourself in a rut (now I'm sounding like an irritating agony aunt!) with what seems no escape route or exit. Than its time to introduce some tacky, delightful and immature dose of... fun! I personally like to seek out such care free fun via glorious, quirky, plastic- fantastic accessories: Necklaces, badges, bracelets, rings, brooches the more insanely silly the better, I say...

Game of cards?:jellyswearables

Now I suck at playing cards any card game I'm dreadful and hopeless with all of them, and yes this includes snap. Though I've got to say I make a mean and impressive tower of cards, if zero else! This brooch is too perfect for the enthusiastic card player, who just lacks any actual and specific card playing skills: at least with this brooch I'd look the part. Its also capable of distracting your competition, allowing you to 'adjust the cards', well OK cheat is probably more like it!

Send a postcard: ladyluck

Postcards, um? Are they the wonderful pictures of a far away exotic destination somewhere across an ocean, of which you can only wish to see during some phase of your life...yet a close friend or relative is currently exploring? Aah yep it is, that's right and once upon a time (not too long ago) these colourful and picture perfect, postcards use to be lovingly sent with a little note scribbled across the back closely followed by a 'wish you were here' (*you could of took me with you, I would of been willing to jump in the suitcase!*) this gesture seems to of been left at the way side...Answer go and buy your very own postcard, attached to a frigging chain:love it! Less costly than a holiday who needs Australia, Spain or Disney land Florida? ( alright so this post card necklace isn't that brilliant. After all it cannot bring out the sunshine or roll out a beach, but still it is rather adorable).

Don't want to grow up: alteregojewelery

Now and then when walking around 'toys r us' (other large toy stores are available) along with my little niece, I can't help but think how some toys such a little pony's and polly pocket pieces are so pretty, bright and very cute. Yes perhaps I have possibly considered parading around wearing one around my neck or as a hat, perfectly normal I'm sure you'd erm agree? If you found yourself pondering and carrying out such creative jewelery experiments, in the aisle of toy stores across the land, wonder no more! As alterego jewelery are making such jewelery as I speak (or type, even!) genius or innovative it's not, sometimes simple is just as devinne.

Just adorable really: Brennan & Burch

Brennan & Burch are another team of designers who take pleasure in creating light hearted, full of character, plastic jewelery: ideal as it really doesn't matter if you go and lose it (heaven knows I'm always misplacing my precious jewels).

Art for your hair: cotton candy corsage

All my close friends often express how I often appear to look like or resemble a (joke this is not) 'walking, talking canvas' or the other charming nickname 'Pallet' as in you guessed it a paint pallet, I'm positive I'll learn to love and adopt? This foolish and embarrassing new forename! However I do seem to encourage such nick names upon myself, especially when I apply cotton candy accessories to my daily outfits. Why not? Look at these hairbands and brooches they're literally wearable art, no? I can't resist sticking these decorations in my hair: birds have before now mistaken my head for their nearby nest, but never less I continue to clip in such enormous accessories which poke (to my humiliation) people in the eye: I hate it when this happens!

Pump It Up

Photos: Amapo s/s '09 collection (makes want to go gym it:now!)

I hate the gym, I detest everything about the gym (though I do like to exercise, and get my heart pumping) I never, ever attend the gym. All the awful, 'techno, techno' tunes makes my ears bleed, then there's the case of the person a few feet in front of you with zero coordination constantly stepping on your toes, and nudging their bony elbow in your face *ouch...Then there's the hideous sports gear which often includes some tracksuit with an enormous brand logo, splashed across your chest or bum (if the logo is also on the pants:great stuff, enlarging your behind!). This makes me feel like a walking, talking advertising board...The worse part is when running around wearing this ridiculous shit, its almost 90% guaranteed, your crash into one of your ever so stylish friends...or far worse and embarrassing bumping into 'him' that gorgeous man you have your eye on. Horror! I'd be more enthusiastic and willing to partake in a spot of aerobics if sportswear improved itself and got a clue, so to speak. Unfortunately I'm not prepared to wait for this 'snazzy sportswear revolution' to occur:not when I've got bra roll to burn (bra roll. That slight over spill around the side of your bra? Oh is it just me?...Moving on swiftly then). So I've worked up a sweat in my preparation for my scheduled exercise regime, and been- a-busy hunting down non-disgusting and just damn wrong sports wear minus all those giant brand names and laugh out loud logos. Life is one big expressive, fashion parade. So why the hell should the runway end at the local gym?

Three printed tops (above) all from:meandyu

Tee from: charlotterusse

Heart girl tee from: newlook

Animal vest from: motelrocks
First up lets begin this stretch warm up with a section of tee's and vests, the brighter the better (motivation, 'gals and guys?). Let the prints do the talking, so you can save your breath when gasping for oxygen in between all them crunch's and bum squats (so I hear they make you do, down at the gym).

Sequin shorts from: asos
Now lets work the bottom half I've gone all OTT here with these sparkly, sequin shorts, perfect for some cheesy 80's aerobic class (yep, would you believe they have such a theme down my soon to be gym? Crazy huh?)...

Cropped leggings from: oli

Though I think's I prefer to stick with what I know: the simple and classic cropped black leggings. Show off them toned carves yes, no?

Ted Baker bag from: Oli

Last but not least, lets crack on with our cool down, with a nice yellow, funky and large shoulder bag, to hide all the sweat odour contents and your empty water bottles...(not to mention you can slip in a crafty, naughty chocolate bar: lets not deprive ourselves of the good stuff!).
Moi's grey and pink all stars from: Rawshoe.
*So your probably thinking what about the trainers? Truth is I can't seem to find, gym shoes that don't resemble boats or indeed moon boots: I'll be rocking my casual all stars then.

Fashion: Scott's To Have It All!

Past Collection's: Scott Ramsay kyle

Firstly do excuse the very cheesy and lame title, I simply could not resist it: though it is in all honesty a terrible, terrible pun and amusing all for a split second but hey I never once claimed to be a comedian! So who else has been sucking up all the glorious (and not so glorious) spring summer feature pull outs? I sure have, though from a far literally...browsing through magazine shelf's in my local quick stop shop they all pretty much have the same contents, and I've not been able to buy a magazine in a while now (yep I'm taking desperate measures to save up for the summer!). So it was to my delight when somebody and indeed by a stroke of luck left behind their glossy fashion magazine on a train table (as much as I enjoy reading the old metro paper, it made a nice change and felt like discovering a £5 note on the floor). Sure enough I open up the thick and heavy magazine and notice this all too familiar and repetitive pattern of bygone spring summer trends, while at the same time there seems to not really be a strong and established trend running through the threads of fashion. Could it be at long last fashion is (almost) opening its mind up to the possibilities and ditching the tunnel vision of which so very often it proves to have? I never understand this concept of 'trends' and 'must have' hell life's too short mix it up and get wild already, jeez! Why oh why is it certain fashion publications churn out and place emphasis on the same old fashion designers season after season, what about all those wonderful fashion designers in between the chanel's and McQueen's of the fashion world? Not once did I manage to effortlessly seek out Scott Ramsay Kyle's s/s '09 collection, did you? It was one huge almighty mission, and there for I've took advantage of the 'copy & paste' and created a 'shrine' to all that is central st martins ex- student, Scott Ramsay kyle and completed with his latest s/s '09 collection. All Photos from:Scottramsaykyle.com
Obviously, I do appreciate it's not to every ones taste, and after all we are colourful individuals (after all we don't all enjoy the same genres of music do we? Fashion is also so similar in this sense). Then again if one doesn't like what they see surely you can chose to flick (or click) straight past it and continue to absorb the 'big guns who dominate fashion week after fashion week: Sure I'm aware of the more obscure and daring independent magazines which are widely available who cater to and for the bonkers, and quirky ... just why on earth can't popular and super glossy, fashion mag's put into practice a more broad and diverse fashion pallet combo? Especially when as I highlighted just now: there is not one particular fashion trend to embrace this year, and refreshingly so too! Go on fashion be unique push boundaries. I dare you.
PS...My next post shall not be a rant; I just felt compelled to air this strong and personal opinion of mine.
